About
Capital Properties has been an active real estate sales and marketing company in the Silicon Valley for over 40 years. Of course, when we started, the Valley was still earning that name. The company was started in downtown Los Gatos in 1979 and we quickly grew to support over 40 agents.
In 1984, we moved the office to downtown San Jose. It was an exciting time in San Jose and the downtown was undergoing major redevelopment. Our agents continued to work with the buyers and sellers of existing homes but we also had an exciting new focus as Capital Properties began sales and marketing for many of the first condominium developments in downtown. For 15 years we specialized in marketing new developments in San Jose, Santa Clara and across the Bay Area. During this time, we were also active partners with the City of San Jose and administered its programs to assist first time buyers and also specifically, the San Jose Teacher First Time Buyer Program. First time buyers have always been special to our business and continue to be some of our favorite clients.
Today, Capital Properties continues to thrive as a full-service boutique real estate brokerage based out of downtown San Jose and serving the entire Silicon Valley and surrounding counties. We have built a business that relies almost entirely on referral and we enjoy and appreciate the loyalty and trust of the many repeat clients we continue to work with. We believe our success in this business derives from our belief in integrity and communication and our focus remains as it has always been, the success and happiness of our clients.
-Georgie Huff, Broker & Owner since 1979
I grew up in Sacramento and came to San Jose to study at San Jose State University where I received my BA in Psychology in 1974. When I started my real estate career at the age of 25, I was one of the youngest agents in Los Gatos. Real estate was an exciting profession and I quickly moved from being a new agent to owning and managing my own office. I took over Capital Properties in 1979 and building the reputation of this business has been the focus of my career ever since.
I believe strongly in the importance of community involvement. I have served on numerous non-profit Board of Directors, City Commissions and Task Forces. Those include a term as the President of the San Jose Downtown Association, Chair of the City Council Salary Setting Commission and twice a member of the City of San Jose Housing Task Force, to name a few. I served as an Elector in the 2000 Electoral College and served on the Federal Grand Jury for two years, as Deputy Foreman. Additionally, I continue to work with the courts on estate sales and as an expert witness. My continuing education includes many courses in the field of fiduciary representation.
I have lived in Naglee Park in downtown San Jose for over 35 years and raised my son there. Outside of real estate, I have many other interests. I am passionate about golf, I have sung in local rock bands, I have renovated numerous houses and I love going to Burning Man with friends. I am also looking forward to promoting the next “Art Party” in San Jose, known as the Irreverent Art Fest, next scheduled for 2022.
I am a San Jose native and I grew up in Naglee Park. I attended local public schools, graduated from Lincoln High School, then received my BA in Politics from UC Santa Cruz. After college, I spent time traveling and working abroad, working as as a nanny in Washington DC and two campaign seasons as a political organizer in Sunnyvale and Watsonville.
In 1997, I got my license and joined my stepmom, Georgie at Capital Properties. I began as the on-site sales associate at Carnegie Square in downtown San Jose and after closing out the last two phases of that new development, I transitioned to working full time with buyers and sellers. Early in my career I helped many teachers buy their first homes around San Jose and Georgie and I taught home buying seminars for the San Jose Teacher First Time Buyer program. I have gone on to earn my Brokers License and over the years, my range of clients has broadened to include buyers and sellers across six counties on properties ranging from downtown condominiums to historic homes to rural land.
Each home buyer and seller has unique goals and I pride myself on being a good listener, a frank communicator and a trustworthy adviser in the home buying/selling process. I enjoy my role because every transaction is an opportunity to help someone navigate an important moment in their life and the trust they place in me is a privilege.
I live in the Rose Garden with my wife, two kids, two dogs and a hamster. Outside of real estate, I enjoy playing guitar, running, and both playing adult soccer and coaching youth soccer. I also love nearly any activity that gets me outdoors, be it camping, snow skiing, sailing or a dog-walk around the neighborhood.
