The Northside Neighborhood is one of San Jose's original residential districts, built immediately to the northeast of the heart of downtown. The neighborhood is generally bounded by Julian Street to the south, Hedding Street to the north, Sixth Street to the west and Coyote Creek to
the east. The neighborhood is characterised by a classic street grid lined with vintage homes typically built between the mid-1880's and the 1930's. The Northside benefits from its mix of new owners interested in restoring the historical character of these classic homes combined with a strong neighborhood association boasting the longest history in San Jose. Formed in 1965, the Northside Neighborhood Association has been an advocate for the residents of the Northside for over forty years. All residents within its boundaries are automatically members of the association and it is well know for organizing a number of popular events during the year. In addition to its annual flea market fundraiser, the NNA has been active this summer with the National Night Out (a neighborhood movie event in Backesto Park), the Northside Homes Tour, and a number of neighborhood beautification and improvement projects for neighbors of all skills and interests!
